Six years ago I had a realization. I was 35 years old, overweight, exhausted and sluggish. At one point, I saw a photo of myself (shown) with one of my kids and honestly did not recognize the person in the photo. She was huge and pale and just looked unwell. That year I went on a meditation retreat that changed my thoughts about wellness forever. Over the next 3 years, I spent less time in meditation and more time working on my work life. After much success, I still felt empty and I began to yearn for change. Then I went for my annual exam and my doctor said the words: “Amy, I have a real concern that you may suffer a stroke at any moment.”….and ACTION!

I became a vegan and felt a real change. Then I started pilates and yoga and lost almost 70 pounds in 18 months! My blood work was much better but my blood pressure was still high. I agreed to start meds to lower my blood pressure. It felt like a failure.

My physical exercise tapered off as my children became more active and I started eating cheese again because, well, I love cheese. I gained 20 pounds back in just under 2 years and that brings us to 2012. This year I began meditating daily and making much healthier choices. I have become more physically active and started many types of complementary wellness including Reiki, meditation, and essential oils. As a result, I have lost 10 pounds, my blood pressure has gone down and I expect to be off meds in 2013. I still keep that photo on my refrigerator as a reminder.

After becoming Reiki level II certified and a Young Living distributor, I have started sharing the complementary wellness techniques I use on myself and my family with others. I truly believe that wellness as a complement to traditional medicine is a way to take control of your own health and the health of your family.

And so the essentials page of was born. I will share my favorite essential oil remedies for the season and a link for you to purchase them at my cost.
